1.Keep eye contact. 保持眼神交流
中國考生在答題時往往眼瞼自然下垂,是一種內斂的表現?稍跉W美人看來,這種回避的眼光可能是一種缺少安全感、不自信的表現。在雅思口語考試中,考官提問時會一直與考生保持眼神交流,這樣不僅可以保證交流的自然性,也符合西方人的交流習慣,而這正是很多考生忽略的細節(jié)。堅定的眼神可以將考生的自信傳達給考官,從而給考官留下良好的印象。所以,考生要牢記,考試時和考官保持一定的眼神交流,自信地看著對方說話,即使心里很慌亂,也不要從眼睛里流露出來。
2.Listen carefully and respond quickly. 仔細聽題、快速反應
不少考生備考口語考試時,忽略了加強聽力練習,殊不知,口語交流的前提是聽懂問題。不少考生口語考試時因聽力不足而交流不暢,無法做到快速反應。
建議大家找一個可以用英語交流的朋友,以一問一答的形式來模擬正式考試,既可以逼真地模擬考試場景,也可以鍛煉聽力和反應能力,還可以培養(yǎng)用眼神交流的習慣。
3.Don’t pretend you understand the questions when you don’t. 不可不懂裝懂
有些考生考試時由于緊張或聽力不好沒聽清考官的問題,但又不想暴露,于是便連蒙帶猜給出一個答案。但是,如果考生不懂裝懂,答非所問,萬一答案錯誤,就會給考官留下聽力很差的印象。其實在考試中要求考官重復或確認很正常,尤其是問題比較長而復雜時。所以,與其猜測不如確認或請考官重復問題,比如:Sorry,what was that? I’m sorry?
4.Use hesitation devices appropriately. 巧用停頓技巧
考生即使準備再充分,也難免被考官問到一些冷僻或棘手的問題,這時恰當地使用停頓技巧就變得很重要。比如:
Q:Do you enjoy singing?
A:Singing? Well, I’m not very keen on singing, but I do like listening tomusic.
考生答題時可先重復問題中的一些關鍵詞作為確認,同時給自己時間思考。well, actually, yousee, you knowwhat等都是英語中最常用的停頓表達方法。
5.Don’t memorize answers. 不可背誦答案
不少考生備考時,把參考書中的例子也背下來以應對考試。背書的考生通常語速過快、沒有語調、表情不自然,很容易被考官發(fā)現。背書是一種投機取巧的作弊手段,無法真實地反映考生的口語水平
所以,大家要認真練習口語,注意語速不可過快,語調自然起伏,避免單一。
6.Develop answers by offering detailed information. 提供細節(jié)、擴展答案
考官給考生打分的前提是,考生提供足量的語言素材以達到分析和判斷的底線。所以,擴展答案很重要。選擇什么角度擴展,取決于考生自己。如果遇到冷僻或陌生的話題,可嘗試從不同角度講述。
7.Don’t panic if you’ve made a mistake. 犯錯不慌
很多考生語法意識太強,擔心自己的答案會出現語法錯語,結果在答題中出現了大量停頓和糾錯現象,使語言表達的流利度大打折扣。其實,考生大可不必為答題中出現的語法錯誤過度擔心。一旦犯錯,如果意識到了,可及時改正,沒有改正也無傷大雅,沒必要慌張。有時候考官也可能沒注意到,關鍵在于是否能夠流暢表達,對方能否理解。當然,這并不意味著考生可不顧語法,任意犯錯?忌趶土晻r可將自己說的內容錄音,然后自查錯誤。
