How can I reset my youSC password?
If you have forgotten your password, visit the youSC login page and select the Lost Password link under the Log In button. Follow the instructions provided to receive a temporary password.

When will I receive an admission decision on my transfer application?
Transfer applicants who submitted a complete application by the deadline and responded promptly to any requests for additional information will receive a decision letter or a request for spring grades by May 31.
Scholarship award notifications are usually mailed out to admitted transfer applicants by May 31.

How do I check the status of my graduate application?
Because of the high volume of materials we process, we do not send confirmation emails when specific items have been received. We will contact you only if we need to request additional materials. To ensure that you have submitted a complete application, please refer to our checklists here.
The Notification status page on your application will include the following updates:
Receipt of transcripts uploaded on the application.
Receipt of official GRE and TOEFL scores.
Receipt of recommendation letters.
You may contact us using the Contact form to check the following:
Receipt of official (mailed or electronic) transcripts.
Receipt of GMAT, IELTS and PTE scores.
Status of your application.
Graduate admission staff are also available via Skype from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Pacific Time, Monday-Thursday. Please add graduate.admissions.usc to your contact list.

Can I double major at USC?
USC offers a wide range of majors and minors and we encourage students to double major or pursue major-minor combinations. However, applicants are not able to choose a combined program at the time they apply for admission.
Applicants apply for, and are admitted to, only one major. Admitted students can request a double major or a minor program once they enroll, either at Orientation or any time thereafter, with the assistance of an academic advisor.

When will I receive an admission decision on my graduate application?
Due to the many factors involved in the departmental review process, we cannot estimate when decisions will be made. However, you should check your email often. You will be notified via email once your decision is available on youSC.

Can I defer my graduate admission if I am unable to attend USC for the term to which I was admitted?
USC does not offer deferments in the traditional sense of the term. However, admitted students may request an update to their file.
An application update is not a guarantee of re-admission, but rather a request that your original application be evaluated for admission to a subsequent term. Updates are available only for applicants who have been admitted or who have not yet received a decision.
An application may be updated to a term within one year of the original application. You do not need to pay the application fee again, and all documents already on file are kept in our system. However, you must log back in to the application and add any new coursework you may have completed since the original application and send us transcripts when they become available. You must also add any new test scores and request that the test provider send your official scores to USC. If you are an international student, you will also need to inform us of any changes in your residency status.
Applicants who have been denied admission must re-apply to USC by submitting a new graduate application.

When and how should I submit my financial documents?
Ideally, you should submit them when you complete your online application. Copies of financial documents and your passport can be uploaded to the Documents tab of the Supporting Materials section.
If you have already submitted your application, you can log back in to upload these documents. Only one Upload button is available for each document type, so make sure to consolidate as many of your documents as possible.
If you already used this option and still need to send us additional materials, you can send them as attachments in PDF or JPEG format using our Contact form. We ask that you not send us your financial documents prior to submitting your application, or they will not be reviewed.

Does USC offer application fee waivers for graduate applicants? How can I request one?
USC offers a variety of fee waivers to prospective students. Please note, all fee waivers must be approved prior to submitting your application. We do not issue any refunds after the fact. Approval can take approximately three to four business days, so plan accordingly to ensure that you meet your application deadline. For more information, click here.

Can I appeal the decision if I was denied admission to my intended graduate program?
Given that all graduate-level admission decisions are made by individual programs, all appeal requests are handled by them as well. We recommend you contact your intended graduate department with any questions or concerns regarding your admission decision.

What is the deadline for submitting my financial documents?
We do not have a posted deadline for submitting financial documents. However, we highly recommend that you submit your financial documents (along with a copy of your passport) at your earliest convenience. If you are admitted and you choose to enroll at USC, this will prevent possible delays in issuing your I-20 or DS-2019 during the peak visa application season.

How will I be notified of the decision on my graduate application?
You will be notified via email once your official letter is posted and available to view on youSC. If you are admitted, you can also certify your enrollment using the Intent to Enroll form there.
Please note: Not all graduate programs use youSC to notify students of their admission decisions. If you have been notified of a decision but your decision letter is not available on youSC, please contact your department directly.

I have submitted my application but would like to revise my statement of purpose or resumé. How can I submit the revised version?
Documents successfully uploaded into your graduate application cannot be deleted or edited.
To add a new document to your application file, please follow the steps below:
Log back in to your online application.
Navigate back to the Program Materials section of your application.
Navigate to the Documents tab.
Upload your new document to any available (Other) Add Document slot.
Navigate back to the My Application tab.
Click on the Update my Application button located near the top of the page.
NOTE: If you do not have a free upload slot, please email your revised document as an attachment directly to the admission office of your intended graduate program.

I'm a freshman applicant and haven't received my decision letter in the mail yet. What should I do?
If you have not received the mailed version of your decision letter by March 31, please call our office at (213) 740-1111 to speak to one of our Admission Contact Counselors, and we will be happy to resend your decision letter at that time.
If your address was changed since you applied for admission and you had not notified us, please Contact Us and let us know your current, correct address.

Can I increase the amounts of federal student loans I have borrowed?
Yes, you can request an increase to an existing loan, as long as the increase does not exceed the amount requested on your student loan application or your cost of attendance. You can request an increase up to 180 days from either the end of the loan payment period (semester) or from when you dropped to less than half-time enrollment (by withdrawing or graduating, for example). If you are enrolled at least halftime in two consecutive terms, you may request an increase for a loan in either term up to 180 days from the end of your last term in that year.
In the case of a student enrolled at least halftime for the fall and spring, you would have up to 180 days after the end of the spring term to increase your loan. To request an increase, please submit an updated Loan Request Form (found in the Document Library on FAST) with the new amount.

Why was I denied admission?
Due to the large volume of applications we receive and the limited number of spaces in each program, we are often unable to offer admission to applicants who are nonetheless highly qualified. Graduate-level admission decisions are made by individual programs, so we recommend you contact your intended graduate department with any questions or concerns regarding your admission decision.
