Love and Time

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived:

Happiness,Sadness, Knowledge,and all of the others, including Love.

One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink,

so all constructed boats and left. Except for love.

Love was the only one who stayed.

Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.

When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat.

Love said,"Richness, can you take me with you?"

Richness answered,"No,I can't.There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat.

There is no place here for you."

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel.

"Vanity,please help me!"

"I can't help you, Love.You are all wet and might damage my boat,Vanity answered

Sadness was close by so Love asked,"Sadness,let me go with you."

"Oh...Love,I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love,too,

but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly,there was a voice,"Come,Love, I will take you." It was an elder.

So blessed and overjoyed,

Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going.

When they arrived at dry land,the elder went her own way.

Realizing how much was owed the elder,

Love asked Knowledge another elder,"Who helped me?

"It was Time." Knowledge answered.

"Time?"asked Love."But why did Time help me?"

Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered,

"Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

【篇二】譯文

愛和時間

從前，有一個島嶼上住著所有的感情：

快樂，悲傷，知識，還有包括愛在內(nèi)的所有其他所有情感。

一天他們得到消息說這個島嶼將要沉沒，

除了愛以外，他們都修建了船只，打算離開。

只有愛無動于衷，

她想在后一刻才離開

當(dāng)島嶼幾乎沉沒的時候愛決定尋求幫助。

富裕乘著一艘巨輪從愛身旁經(jīng)過，

愛問:"富裕，你能帶上我嗎？"

富�；卮鹫f:"不行，我的船上有很多金銀珠寶

沒地方留給你了。"

愛決定求助于空虛，他正坐在一艘漂亮的船上。

"空虛，請幫幫我。"

"我?guī)筒涣四�，愛，你全身濕淋淋的會毀了我的船的�?quot;空虛回答說。

悲傷走了過來，于是愛問:"悲傷，讓我和你一塊走吧？"

"噢......愛，我很難過想一個人呆著！"

快樂也從愛身邊經(jīng)過，

她太高興了竟然沒有聽到愛叫她。

忽然，傳來一個聲音:來吧，愛，我載你。"是位老人。

愛是那么欣喜若狂，

竟忘記了問老人他們要去哪兒。

到了一塊干地后，老人放下愛獨(dú)自走了。

意識到自己虧欠老人很多時，

愛問另一位叫知識的老人:"幫我的是誰？"

"是時間。"知識回答。

"時間？"愛問，"為什么時間要幫我？"

知識意味深長地笑笑說:

"因為只有時間才懂得愛有多么珍貴。"

【篇三】第47期

Shocking Bill

A young man had a new girlfriend,whom he wanted to impress

so he invited her to go to a world-famous restaurant with him one evening.

They dined wonderfully and had numerous drinks;

they danced until midnight,and there was fine musical entertainment.

The girl enjoyed the entire evening,

and was suitably impressed by everything she saw,

including several film stars.

Then the waiter brought the bill at the end of the evening,

and when the young man saw how much he had to pay,

he was so shocked by the total that he went as white as a sheet.

The helpful waiter, who was watching his face,

thought he might be going to faint,

so he quickly poured out a glass of ice cold water

and emptied it over the young man's head

Then he took the bill back and added to it:Iced water-- 50 cents.

【篇四】譯文

觸目驚心的賬單

一年輕人新交了一位女朋友，為了給她留下好的印象

一天晚上他邀請女朋友去世界聞名的飯店吃飯。

他們吃了頓豐盛的飯菜并且還喝了各種各樣的飲料。

伴隨著一場優(yōu)雅的音樂會，他們跳舞一直到深夜。

女孩整個晚上玩的很盡興。

她所看到的一切，給她留下了深刻的印象，

包括看到的幾個影星。

這時，服務(wù)員拿來了這天晚上的消費(fèi)的賬單。

但年輕人看到賬單時，

他被賬單上的數(shù)目驚呆了，臉色蒼白。

服務(wù)員注視著他的臉，

他認(rèn)為這個年輕人要暈倒了。

于是，他拿來一杯冰水

潑在年輕人的頭上，

然后他又拿來賬單，并在上面加上:"冰水，50便士。"
