教學內容
Fun Time
1．這個故事講的是小丑帶著馬戲團的一只大象去動物園，在街上碰見了Lily和Bill，他們與大象結成為好朋友。大象在過馬路時，從街對面過來一個推著自行車的行人，自行車上帶著一些香蕉，該行人與大象打過招呼后就過了馬路。這時大象突然停在馬路當中不走了，小丑、Lily和Bill使勁推它，它不動，警察也過來幫忙，它還是不動。這時街對面的交通燈變成了綠色的，大象擋住了所有南來北往的車輛。怎么辦？Bill想出了一個好主意，把大象引過了馬路。是什么主意呢？請學生猜一猜。（答案：用香蕉引大象過馬路。）
2．學生通過學習故事，復習本單元的交際用語：Where are you going?
3．通過本故事的學習，培養(yǎng)學生運用所學知識觀察和判斷的能力。如：觀察故事中交通燈的變化（可以用到在第28課中學到的有關交通燈的知識），大象為什么停在馬路中間不走了（懂得大象的生活習性）等。
4．故事中新的語言項目是：Why are you stopping here? Move, elephant．Let's go together．
5．本部分學習內容的難點是：move單詞的讀音和move單詞中字母v的讀音。
6．課堂操作語言建議：
圖1 This is a story about an elephant．What do you see in picture 1? Or what do you see in the street? （ I can see …．or There is …．）OK．The clown rides the elephant．They meet Lily and Bill in the street．The clown introduces Elephant to Bill and Lily．He says,“Hi, Bill and Lily．This is my friend, Elephant．”Bill and Lily say to elephant,“Hello, Elephant．”
圖2 Look at picture 2．Do you know where they are going? Let's guess．OK! They are going to the zoo．
圖3 Look at picture 3．Bill and Lily ride the elephant, too．What colour is the traffic light now? （ …．）Yes．The traffic light is getting green．The clown says,“The traffic light is green．Let's go．”
圖4 What do you see in picture 4? （ I see）A man trundles a bike toward the elephant．There are some bananas on the bike．He says to the elephant,“Hi, Elephant! ”The traffic light is yellow．What happens now? Look at picture 5, please．
圖5 The elephant stops in the middle of the road．All the vehicles can't go．A policeman comes and says,“Why are you stopping here? Go!” WHY? （…．）
圖6 Look at Picture 6．What are the people doing now? （…．）What do they want to do? （…．）All the people are pushing the elephant．They want to move the elephant．But the elephant is still in the middle of the road．

教學建議
1．教師出示教學掛圖或讓學生看課本，建議將學生分成小組，以組為單位對故事圖畫進行觀察，并根據(jù)圖討論故事大意。（這樣做的好處是能夠幫助學習能力弱的學生積極參與課堂學習活動。）
2．讓學生用中文說一說對故事的理解。
3．教師指教學掛圖，用學生易接受的英文和形體動作，整體介紹故事內容。目前，學生對英語已經(jīng)有了一些感性認識，教師在整體介紹故事內容時，應注意與學生進行交流，幫助學生運用學過的語言，以培養(yǎng)學生主動參與語言實踐活動的意識（參考課堂操作語言建議）。
4．教師讓學生看教學掛圖、聽錄音，并根據(jù)錄音內容試著指出相應的圖。
5．學生看教學掛圖，根據(jù)錄音重復語句，教師應鼓勵能夠重復錄音中句子的學生。
6．讓學生多聽幾遍錄音，在理解的基礎上，重復聽到的句子（建議目前仍不限制學生具體能說哪一句話），在重復的同時學生可以根據(jù)自己的理解做出相應的動作。
7．如果每一幅圖的語言都已經(jīng)有學生會說，就可以進行角色表演。
8．角色扮演時應在教室里布置場景，并準備故事中需要的道具。
9．為了使每個學生都參與活動，角色扮演時應采取group work的形式，并給每個孩子適當?shù)谋頁P。
