【篇一】五一國際勞動節(jié) The International Worker’s Day
The international workers’day, also known as May day, is celebrated on the first day on May. There are more than eighty countries celebrate this festival since 1889. People may know that the worker’s day is about having a rest on that day, but most of them don’t know how this day comes from and the story behind it.
五一國際勞動節(jié)，又稱為五一節(jié)，在每年的5月1日慶祝。從1889年開始，全球共有超過八十個國家慶祝這一節(jié)日。人們可能會認為勞動節(jié)就是在5月1日放假，不用上班，但大多數(shù)人不知道勞動節(jié)是怎么來的以及它背后的故事。
In the late of 18 century, the cruel capitalists in order to make more money, they demanded their employers to work all day, but only paid them with low salaries. In America, the workers had to work at least 14 hours a day, sometimes, they even worked as long as 18 hours. Due to the unfair payment, the works knew that they had to stand up and fight for their rights, or all of them will die young. Then the workers started to go on strike, demanded that the reasonable working hours should be 8 hours a day. However, the capitalists did not pay attention to the workers’demand. The workers had to fight for their rights for themselves. On may 1st, 1886, the United States and Canada’s worker unions got together to start the biggest strike. After that day, the law had passed the rules that the workers’working hours would be 8 hours per day. This strike had made a different. The worker did not need to suffer from the long working hours with low payment.
在18世紀末，殘酷的資本家為了創(chuàng)造更多的價值，他們要求工人們整天工作，卻給工人支付極少的報酬。在美國，工人們每天至少要工作14個小時，有時候，他們甚至要工作長達18個小時。因為不合理的報酬，工人們深知只有站起來反抗才能獲取自己的合法權(quán)益，免得他們就會過勞死。工人們開始罷工，要求每天的合理工作時間為八小時。然而，資本家們卻不理會工人們的要求。工人們只有繼續(xù)爭取自己的權(quán)益。在1886年5月1號，美國和加拿大的工作團體聚集在一起，發(fā)起了有史以來的罷工。從那之后，法律通過了每天工作8小時的條例。這次罷工改變了歷史。工人們不用再次忍受長時間的工作以及少得可憐的報酬。

Recently, the news that English will occupy less percentage in Chinese traditional college-entrance examination in the following years has aroused a heated discussion among the public, especially among students.
最近，有消息稱我國高考將在近幾年內(nèi)降低英語所占分值，這一消息在廣大眾們中引起了熱烈討論，尤其是在學(xué)生中間。
There are two different views towards the news. On the one hand, those students who consider learning English as a boring and difficult task and those who are not good at learning English sing high praise of it, because the lower percentage of English will narrow their gap with those who can get higher score in English. In other words, the lower of percentage of English makes it more possible for them to reach better colleges or universities. However, on the opposite side, those who do well in learning English will feel disappointed as their advantage will be lowered if the percentage of English is lowered.
對此消息有兩種不同的看法。一是，那些認為英語很難學(xué)很枯燥或是討厭學(xué)英語的學(xué)生對此消息表示很支持, 因為英語分值的降低會縮小他們跟那些擅長英語學(xué)習(xí)的學(xué)生之間的差距。這也意味著他們有更大機會考上好的大學(xué)。然而，相反的，如果高考降低英語分值，那些英語成績好的學(xué)生會感到失落，因為他們將會失去優(yōu)勢。
As far as I am concerned, in a long term, the lower percentage of English in college-entrance examination is not good for the overall development of students, it is not good for improving the whole nation’s English, and is not good for communication with foreign countries. In a word, examination is a great motivation for second-language learners, and there is no doubt that the lower percentage of English in Chinese traditional college-entrance examination will bring some further negative impact to students.
在我看來，從長遠來看降低高考中英語的比重不利于學(xué)生的全面發(fā)展，不利于提高本國國民的英語水平，不利于與海外國家的交流�？傊荚噷τ诘诙Z言的學(xué)習(xí)者來說是個很好的激勵，毫無疑問高考英語比重的降低將對學(xué)生產(chǎn)生負面影響。

Recently, a catchword “post-holiday syndrome” has caught our attention, which refers to a general feeling of depression before returning to work, including fatigue, lack of appetite and concentration, irritability and feeling of helplessness, etc. The syndrome has negative impacts on our life, our work, our study and our health. So what can we do to avoid post-holiday syndrome?

As the syndrome is usually caused by irregular lifestyles during the vacation, thus the most effective way to avoid the syndrome is to avoid such irregular lifestyles in the vacation. For example, we had better keep the same lifestyle as the usual, like get up on time, go to bed on time, so that we would not make our life irregular. If we can keep such regular and healthy lifestyles all the time, we would not suffer the post-holiday syndrome.

In a word, leading a regular and healthy life and keeping positive and relaxed are effective ways to avoid the post-holiday syndrome.
