May, is the university a terrible place?
阿美，大學(xué)是個(gè)恐怖的地方嗎?
May：
Surely not. Life in the university is fun. Why did you ask?
當(dāng)然不是，大學(xué)生活很有趣。你為什么問這個(gè)問題呀?
Daniel：
Because you study day in and day out for the entrance exam. So I figure you would study even harder after you’ve got in.
因?yàn)槟銥榱烁呖疾环謺円沟貙W(xué)習(xí)，所以我想你進(jìn)入大學(xué)以后會(huì)更加努力地學(xué)習(xí)。
May：
Studying in the university is not easy, but it's not as arduous as you think.
大學(xué)的學(xué)習(xí)不那么容易，但也不是像你想象的那么枯燥。
Daniel：
How do you know that? You haven't got in yet.
你怎么知道?你還沒上大學(xué)呢。
May：
Of course I know. I once attended Lisa's class, sitting quietly at the back of the classroom.
我當(dāng)然知道了，我曾經(jīng)安安靜靜地坐在教室后面，跟利莎一起上過課。
Daniel：
Oh, really? Were you not caught?
哦，真的嗎?你沒被抓?
May：
Of course not. You are allowed to attend any lecture, only if there are empty seats for you and you don't disturb the class. In universities, you study in a free and creative environment.
當(dāng)然沒有。只要教室里還有空位，你又不擾亂課堂，你就可以旁聽任何課。在大學(xué)里，你可以在輕松而富有創(chuàng)造性的環(huán)境中學(xué)習(xí)。
Daniel：
What do you want to study in the university? Have you thought about it?
你在大學(xué)想學(xué)什么呢?你有沒有想過?
May：
This question has really been bothering me. I like Chinese literature, you know. But economics is really hot now, and it has a very good career prospect.
這個(gè)問題一直困擾著我。你知道，我喜歡中國文學(xué)，但是經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)現(xiàn)在很熱門，而且它的職業(yè)發(fā)展前景也挺好的。
Daniel：
I will choose what I like. You don't know what a torture it is for me to study English, because I don't like English.
我會(huì)選擇我喜歡的。你不知道對(duì)我來說學(xué)習(xí)英語有多么痛苦，因?yàn)槲也幌矚g英語。
May：
Though I like Chinese literature very much, I'm also interested in economics. It's a tough choice to make.
雖然我非常喜歡中國文學(xué)，但我對(duì)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)也很感興趣。真是很難決定呀。
Daniel：
You can decide later. You will have choices before you submit your university application form.
你可以晚點(diǎn)再?zèng)Q定。在你提交志愿表以前你還可以選擇。
May：
Right. I have lots of time to think carefully before I make my final decision.
是呀，在做后決定前，我還有很多時(shí)間仔細(xì)想想。

Just passed level 4.

Your English is much better than mine.
黃小蓉：只要努力學(xué)習(xí)，學(xué)好英語并不是太難。
As long as you work hard, it’s not really difficult to learn English well.
周奔馳：我要全力以赴，好好學(xué)習(xí)，天天向上。
I will try my best. Good good study, day day up.
[注：周奔馳說的“好好學(xué)習(xí)，天天向上”是個(gè)經(jīng)典爆笑的中式英語，當(dāng)然是錯(cuò)誤的，周奔馳只不過是為了博得美眉的一笑而已]
[黃小蓉]正確的說法應(yīng)該是：好好學(xué)習(xí)，天天向上。
The correct way of saying it should be: Study hard and make progress every day.
周奔馳：別介意，這只是一個(gè)玩笑。
