        1. He's writing to invite me to spend a weekend with him at his farm.

        invite sb. to do sth.: 邀請(qǐng)某人去做某事。 　　

        spend a weekend with sb.: 與某人共度周末。 　　

        2. He's planning a get-together with two or three other college friends. Kind of a fifty-year anniversary reunion. 　　

        他正計(jì)劃著要同兩三位別的大學(xué)時(shí)期的朋友聚會(huì)一下，就算是個(gè)畢業(yè)50周年紀(jì)念重聚會(huì)。 　　        get-together: 聯(lián)歡會(huì)，聚會(huì)。 　　

        kind of: 在非正式英語(yǔ)中表示“某種， 類似，如同”，可用于單數(shù)名詞、形容詞、動(dòng)詞等的前面。也常說(shuō)成 “sort of”。 　　

        reunion: 重聚，同班同學(xué)高校畢業(yè)后的重聚聯(lián)歡會(huì)。高中和大學(xué)時(shí)的同班同學(xué)在畢業(yè)多年后常安排重聚或重聚聯(lián)歡會(huì)。 　　

        3. How come he never got married? 　　

        他為什么一直未結(jié)婚呢？ 　　

        How come: 用于一個(gè)完整的陳述句前，構(gòu)成問句，是用來(lái)問“Why”的非正式說(shuō)法。意思是“事情是怎么發(fā)生的?”，“為什么會(huì)有這種情況？”How come，等。這個(gè)come無(wú)時(shí)態(tài)或人稱變化。又如， 　　

        How come she doesn't know about it? （為什么她不知道？）

        4. That's a good question, Robbie. A very good question. 　　

        這問題問得很好，Robbie。問得很好。 　　

        That's a good question. : 說(shuō)這句話，并不一定是指對(duì)方的問題提得好，更經(jīng)常的情況只是為了給自己爭(zhēng)取一點(diǎn)時(shí)間來(lái)思考一下，或者引出自己的回答。 　　

        5. He never got over it.

        1. It's exactly as it was when we were married!

        這里的when從句是狀語(yǔ)從句，修飾 it was，而we were married意指 we just got married，即第一次來(lái)此度蜜月的時(shí)候。 　　

        2. Even the old patchwork quilt is the same! 　　

        連這老式拼花被罩都是原來(lái)那一條。 　　

        patchwork quilt: 百袖被罩，拼花被罩，即用小布?jí)K縫綴的被罩。這曾是美國(guó)一種相當(dāng)普遍的民間藝術(shù)。

        the first time you stayed with us: 在 time 后面的定語(yǔ)從句常省去關(guān)系詞 that（或when）。         6. And very much in love. 　　

        也十分相愛。in love: 相愛。 　　

        7. Would a professional photographer be without a picture? 　　

        一位專業(yè)攝影師會(huì)沒有照片嗎？這句話是個(gè)虛擬語(yǔ)氣的反問句，Richard的意思是“作為一名專業(yè)攝影師，我當(dāng)然有照片”。 　　

        Would …?: 這是常用的表示“詰難，*”等感情的句式。又如，Would you hit such a small boy? （難道你會(huì)打這么小的孩子嗎？）
