Dialogue 1
Tom: I'm going to the cinema this evening.
Jerry: What's on?
Tom: It's a Western "Cowboy Come Home".
Jerry: But there's a Western on television tonight. You are welcome to come round and watch it. Why bother to go out and pay for a cinema seat?
Tom: There is a wide screen and the color will be better.
Jerry: But I'd prefer watching TV to going out to the cinema. Here you can have a comfortable armchair, a drink at your elbow and no journey to make. Besides there are three other worthwhile programs on: a documentary on underwater swimming, half an hour's sports review and an episode of a mystery serial play.
Tom: But a film can make everything more exciting and vivid and the darkness cuts out human surroundings completely.
Jerry: But you can't choose your program and it's a waste of money to walk out if you're bored. It's so easy to turn off the TV - not that I do turn it off very often.
Tom: That's just it. You're drugged by it: you've given up all your old interests. That's why I won't have a TV. I still have time to read, invite friends in for a chat or sometimes go to concerts or the cinema or theatre.

詩歌分享:
A Love Before Time
If the sky opened up for me
and the mountains disappeared
If the seas ran dry, turned to dust
and the sun refused to rise
I would still find my way
by the light I see in your eyes
the world I know fades away
but you stay
If the years take away
every memory that I have
I would still know the way
That would lead me back to your side
The North Star may die
but the light that I see in your eyes
will burn there always
lit by the love we have shared before time
